Jenny holds off Papa to win the 2015 Bowl Battle.
The Championship game is set!
Jenny picked Alabama in tonight’s game.
So, it’s Alabama/Jenny vs Clemson/Papa for the Bowl Battle Championship.
As a reminder, last year’s Championship game pick (Oregon by Rhett) lost.
It’s Winner Winner Chicken Dinner vs Papa!
After starting 3 – 3, Jenny rides an impressive 7 game win streak to finish the regualar bowl season at 10 – 3 and earn the 1st slot in the Championship Game.
While losing 2 of his final 4 games, Papa’s 9-4 record and favorable tie-breaker score was still enough to stumble into the 2nd Championship Game spot over Gabby & Lance.
That ensures us to have our 7th consecutive first time winner.
Jenny is on the clock to make her pick between Alabama and Clemson, leaving Papa with the other team in the January 11th Championship Game.
Correction. TCU wins! Â And, the scenarios are …
TCU ties the largest comeback in bowl history and Commish was mistaken for calling that game early. 🙂
That eliminated Noah & Matt.
New scenarios going into the final game with Jenny & Papa currently in the lead and Lance, Mark, Chris & Gabby still alive . . . sort of.
Arizona State win = Papa (1st) to face Chris or Jenny (2nd) in the Championship Game.
- Tie-breaker points (lowest wins): Chris = 48, Mark = 53, Jenny = 39 + point diff in WVU loss
- Chris beats out Mark via their already final point differentials (48 < 53).
- If WVU loses by 8 or less, Jenny wins tie-breaker.
- If WVU loses by 10 or more, Chris wins tie-breaker.
- If WVU loses by 9, Jenny & Chris tie on the tie-breaker (48 = 48). We’ll need a 2nd tie-breaker to handle.
West Virginia win = Jenny (1st) to face Gabby or Papa (2nd) in the Championship Game.
- Tie-breaker points (lowest wins): Gabby = 45, Lance = 53, Papa = 39 + point diff in ASU loss
- Gabby beats out Lance via their already final point differentials (45 < 53).
- If ASU loses by 5 or less, Papa wins tie-breaker.
- If ASU loses by 7 or more, Gabby wins tie-breaker.
- If ASU loses by 6, Papa & Gabby tie on the tie-breaker (45 = 45). We’ll need a 2nd tie-breaker to handle.
Did you follow that?
– Commish
Chris takes the lead!
Assuming Oregon hangs on to their 28pt lead, Lance, Mark & Gabby are eliminated and Chris takes the lead alone.
If Arizona State wins the final game, it’s Chris & Papa in the finals.
If West Virginia wins, Matt, Noah, Jenny & Chris all finish tied with 9 wins. The tie-breaker (point differential in losses) eliminates Chris and the Commish is still figuring out how to deal with the remaining three way tie.
With 2 games left…
The Arkansas win eliminated Heather and Rhett and dropped Gabby from a tie for the lead. Eight are still alive to earn a spot in the Championship game.
10 still in it…
We have a record 10 players still in contention heading into the final day of competition.
There is an almost certainty that tie breakers will be needed to determine the final 2. And, given the large number of blow outs, the first tie breaker rule* is unlikely to suffice. As such, a secondary tie breaker will need to be decided on prior to Saturday’s final kick-off.
Commish
* Tie breaker for final 2 & seeding: point differential on loses with maximum 14 points per game.
