Will Mark or Lance join Paden in the Championship Game?

Congrats to Paden!   With a record setting 11 wins, she is locked into 1st place with one game remaining.

Lance finishes 2nd if OU wins the Sugar Bowl.  If Auburn wins, Lance & Mark tie and we go to the tie-breaker.

Lance claims 2nd if Auburn wins by less 8.  If they win by more than 8, Mark goes to the Championship Game.    If Auburn wins by exactly 8, we may need be a croquet game as a 2nd tie-breaker.

The scenarios for today’s final 2 games…

Two games left and we have 5 players still in the mix.   Connie/YanYan eliminated via tie-breaker.   Here are the scenarios for the Rose & Sugar Bowls.

  • Penn St + Auburn
    • 1st = Paden, Heather, Vivi & Connie/YanYan tie
    • Paden & Heather currently best positioned for tie-breaker, followed by Vivi.
    • Connie/YanYan mathematically out via tie-breaker.
  • Penn St + Oklahoma
    • 1st = Paden & Heather tie
      • Paden finishes 1st if Penn St wins by less than 14.
  • USC + Auburn
    • 1st = Paden
    • 2nd
      • Mark if Auburn wins by more than 8.
      • Lance if Auburn wins by less than 8.
  • USCOklahoma
    • 1st = Paden
    • 2nd = Lance

Remember, it’s 1st and 2nd place that participate in the Championship Game with the 1st place team getting the choice between Alabama & Clemson.

What to watch for & much more about today’s final games.

The final 4 games to determine the 2 Championship participants are today.

Paden is leading the pack with an 8-1 record heading into those games.  Five others are still in contention at 7-2; Mark, Vivi, Lance, Heather & Connie/YanYan.

Only 1 of the 2 early games today is of consequence.   With all 6 picking Florida, the outcome of the Outback Bowl (vs Iowa) is inconsequential.  So, everyone can root for Heather’s Gators.

The 12:00 CST kick-off of the Cotton Bowl is important, however, as Vivi, Mark & Connie/YanYan picked a Western Michigan upset while Paden, Heather & Lance picked Wisconsin.  Nobody will be officially eliminated after the Cotton Bowl.  But, a Wisconsin win all but assures Paden a spot in the Championship Game.

Below are the key scenarios for success for each individual.  Lock = will finish 1st or 2nd and make the championship game, regardless of tie-breakers.

If you’re curious, Vegas has the favorites as Florida (by 3 points) over Iowa, Wisconsin (8.5) over W. Michigan, USC (7) over Penn St and OU (3) over Auburn.   That scenario would have Paden & Lance meet in the Championship Game with the team choice going to Paden.

Finally, those holding the best point differentials and greatest chances of winnnig tie-breakers are Paden (-5), Heather (-19) & Vivi (-22).    Lance, Mark & Connie/Yan Yan are maxed at -28 with their 2 losses.

  • Paden
    • Lock
      • Wisconsin + USC + OU
      • Wisconsin + Penn St + OU
      • Wisconsin + USC + Auburn

    • At least ties for 2nd in every scenario EXCEPT if W. Michigan + Penn St + Auburn all win.
  • Vivi

      • W. Michigan + Penn St + Auburn
    • 1st place tie with Paden, Heather & Connie/YanYan

It’s a 4 way tie heading into the Orange Bowl!

We now have a 4 way tie with the Commish (Lance), Fry Daddy (Mark) & Pincess P (Paden) joining Vivi in first place heading into the Orange Bowl.  Splitting hairs, Princess P & Vivi currently have the two ‘best’ losses of this group and would win a tiebreaker.

If Florida State wins tonight, the same 4 will head into New Years Eve tied for the lead. If Michigan wins, PaPa, Noah & Topher join them in a 7 way tie for first.

Also, the last two games eliminated the defending champ (Jenny) and Gabby from contention.
