These rules expired on December 1, 2024.
To align with the College Football Playoffs, we will have a Tournament + Championship Game format. The tournament will determine the 2 finalists to participate in a Championship Game.
Section A – Tournament
- Select a winner of each bowl game.
- The two participants with the most correct selections qualify for the Championship Game.
- The point differential between the winner and the loser will be tracked for each game.
- The maximum point differential number awarded points is 14. (added in 2013)
- The tiebreaker is the smallest point differential for games lost. (Example: Santa & Elfie each lost 2 games. The combined point differential in Santa’s 2 losses is 24 points and Elfie’s 2 losing teams lost by a combined 5 points. Elfie wins!)
Section B – Championship Game
- The top seed from the Tournament selects their preferred team in the College Football Playoffs Championship Game.
- The second seed from the Tournament is automatically assigned the other team.
- The winner of the Championship Game is the winner of the Bowl Battle.
Section C – General
- Participation is limited to the extended Laubach family as determined by The Commish.
- Default games include all Big 12, all New Year’s Day games, and others involving schools of local or family interest: Tulsa, Florida & Arkansas.
- If the game count does not equal 13, the commissioners will select games to add/remove.
- Selections must be submitted via the bowlbattle.com website.
- One submission per person.
- Upon submission, selections will be forwarded to the participant for confirmation.
- Individuals can update their picks (prior to the deadline) by sending an email with any changes to The Commish, Jr Commish, or Rookie Commish.
- Cost = FREE!
- The prize for overall champion = Immortality and name on a really cool trophy!
Section D – 2016 Changes
- Added The Commish = Lance Laubach and Jr Commish = Noah Laubach.
Section E – 2018 Changes
- Added Rookie Commish = Paden Laubach.
- Cost changed to $0.
